Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

Mattie from Northwest Native nominated me
and I couldn't be more excited.

I'm not very good with Q& A's but here goes.

Why did you start blogging?
I wanted a creative outlet and a place to talk about my adventures
with my twin sister. My friend encouraged me to start one. She thought it would be something I would really enjoy and she was so right.

How do you think blogging has changed your life?
I have learned so much through blogging and I'm so very
grateful for that. I love learning other people's thoughts and opinions.
Plus, I love hearing about things I may not of heard of.
Seriously, I have learned of so many great things and products from blogging.

Has blogging created friendships for you?
Yes and it is one of the best parts of blogging.
The blogging world is a special place.

What is your number one tip for blogging?

Be Authentic. Write for yourself, no one else.
No one likes fakes. Life is hard enough
and I try to keep things on the positive side here.
No one wants to read about debbie downer.
Being positive is key to being happy.

What is your favorite kind of blog post to write and read?
I love writing about the adventures I go on with my twin.
We always have so much fun and we are always doing something.

Is it hard to keep up with blogging and your regular every day life?
It isn't easy since I work two jobs but I find keeping to a schedule helps.
I keep a running list of blog ideas at all times and I draft a month of ideas in advance.
Blogging is something I love to do so I make the time for it.

Have you met any bloggers you met through here?
I have met the lovely Biana, Alison, Kate, and Jess.
I probably have met a few more am having an old moment and cannot
remember them. I apologize.
One day I hope to meet my shopping partner in crime, Amanda.

How much time do you spend blogging?
More than a few hours a week, I don't really keep track.
Sometimes, the writing just comes to me, other times I struggle with it.
I'm very grateful for my twin sister, who always helps me.
She also proofs all my posts before they go live.
She is a great editor.

What is your favorite post on your blog?
Hmm, good question, I don't really have one.

Here are the rules:
Provide a link and thank the blogger who nominated you for this award.
Answer a few questions about yourself.
Nominate 5-10 blogs that you love.
Include the award logo with your blog post.

I nominate you the reader!!
Answer the questions above below in the comments.
I love getting comments and
look forward to reading your responses.

Best, Marie

Summer Bucket List-Update

Here we are at August 28th. The summer is almost over.
Although to me, it's not officially over until after Labor day.
Am I right??

Reflecting back, it has been a great summer. The weather was good,
not as many hot and humid days as last summer. I call that a good summer
just on that fact. And well, time files when you having fun.

I thought it would be fun to go over my bucket list
to see what I did and didn't do this summer.

1) go strawberry picking.
First item, fail.

2) take a day trip to Portsmouth, NH.
Another fail.

3) eat at Boston Chops
DONE- so yummie.
I highly recommend it.

4) get lost at the Museum of Fine Arts.
Yeah, look at that, another fail.
I hope to go one weekend soon.

5) play mini golf, even though I'm terrible at it.
Done-I lost. I always lose.
As the loser, I always have to buy the ice cream
afterwards. How wrong is that?

6) trip to Nantucket
As you are reading this, I'm on the island.
Will be doing a post all about it.

7) drive down to Providencetown via Old King's Highway (Route 6A).
Hoping to do this, this weekend.

8) visit Thomas Dexter's Grist Mill in Sandwich, MA.
Nope, another fail.

9) visit the Franklin Park Zoo.
Oh, no, yet another fail.

10) visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Oh my, another fail

11) Shop the Boston Farmer's Market.
Done, so happy that it now open
year round.

12) spend a few days at the Beach.

Finally made it to the beach this month
and didn't get to spend nearly as much time
as I had hoped.

13) Visit Yankee Candle in Deerfield, MA
Done, See this post.

14) Visit the Norman Rockwell Museum.
Oh goodness me, another fail.

15) day trip to Rockport, MA.
Hmm..failure.

16) Paint a picture at The Paint Bar.
Done, blogged about here.

All in all, I felt like I did alot but therewere a few things
that I didn't get to do it.Ok, maybe more than a few things.
I'm a failure. hahaha

However, I had a wonderful summer and sad to see it end.

I'm gonna work on my fall bucket list adding some of the places
I failed to visit this summer. Hopefully, I will be more successful
this fall.

How did you do on your summer bucket list??
Let me know, I love hearing from you!
Best, Marie

Confessions by JenniSixx

Hey All,
JenniSixx here,
posting my confessions.

...that I wish i was a traffic cop.
I would give out tickets to every single driver I
see talking on the phone. Get off the phone
and drive!!

...that I always can tell when a driver is on the phone,
they drive all over the place.

...that I love the beach but at the same time
really hate the heat and humidity.

....that perhaps I really am more of a winter person.
It could be because I was born in December.

...that I'm super picky when it comes to shoes.
All I want is comfortable black flats and
cannot find a cute pair anywhere.
I have been looking for months.

..that I'm most comfortable when I'm wearing jeans.

...that I love getting lost in the music.
Just laying around listening to music
is one of my favorite things to do.

...that I don't think it's funny when people see my twin and I and go,
" Am I seeing Double?", No, you are not.
 I don't think it's funny at all.
My twinee thinks it is and laughs every time we hear it.

...that if I had a dollar every time I heard the above,
I would have hundreds of dollars.

...that I love watching other people arguing.
It's like watching a soap opera live and in person.
The best place to do this is at Disney World.
Some many adults having meltdowns.
I could sit on a bench all day long and watch them.

Well, those are my confessions!!

What are your confessions??
Let me know, I love hearing from you!!
Best, JenniSixx

Yankee Candle

A few weeks ago, JenniSixx and I took a trip to Yankee Candle
in Deerfield, Massachusetts.

It's not just a candle store, it's a whole village of stores.
It was HUGE!

It also has a museum, a food court, candle making area and a
restaurant, Chandler's, which was quite good and reasonably priced.

Warning-picture heavy

We spent the day wandering around the store(s).
They have candles, home goods, food, candy,
paper goods, toys, signs, and more.
However, the prices of everything were quite
expensive. Even the candles, were pricey.
They do have special candles that are only sold there.
We didn't buy them. In fact, we didn't buy anything.

While we did enjoy walking around the store and
seeing everything, we were turned off at the prices.
Almost everything you could find somewhere else
and cheaper.

However, we did really like the
Christmas store and would go back just to get more
Christmas decorations.

All in all,  it was a fun thing to do.
It was neat to walk around and see how candles
were made. It was just disappointing to see
how pricey things were.

Are you a fan of Yankee Candles??
Let me know, I love hearing from you!
Best, Marie

Friday Five

Cheers, it's Friday!

Here are my favorites this week.

Song

Locked Away by R. City Feat. Adam Levine

I'm loving this song.
Can't stop listening to it.

Movie

The Intern

This movie looks so funny.
I love Robert DeNiro and cannot
wait to see him as an intern.

Beauty

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer

I picked up a sample of this after Biana recommend it.
My thoughts, you ask?? This stuff is awesome.
It melts into your skin and really does
a wonderful job of blurring the imperfections on my face.
Love love love this stuff. It's worth the money.
As Biana recommended, go to Sephora and get a sample
before you buy it. It is very expensive for a primer.
Try before you buy but I love it.

Makeup Brushes

Today I'm sharing my makeup brushes.
I have learned over the years the benefit of
using good quality makeup brushes.

Here is a roundup of my current favorite brushes.

 Foundation Brush
Chanel
Chanel

Concealer Brush
Sephora

Blending Brush-Eye Shadow
MAC
MAC

The Blush Brush
Chanel
Neiman Marcus

 Buff Powder Brush
Kevyn Aucoin

*I use this as my bronzer brush*
Neiman Marcue

Beauty Blender
This little thing is a game changer.
I LOVE it.
I wish I started using it years ago.

Through trial and error, I have realized what brushes
work best for me.  For instance, I love using a brush to put on my foundation.
Many people disagree with that. However, I have found that for me,
my foundation stays on much better when I use a brush to apply it.
Also, I use a blush brush for my bronzer. I find it to be easier for me to apply.
Whenever I used a bigger brush, it was bronzer overkill.

While I have tired cheaper brushes, I wasn't successful with them as
I found most of them to shed as I was using them. They left me
with little dark hairs all over my face. So annoying trying to get
them off your face.

With regular cleaning, a good brush can last years.
I find them to be a worthy investment.
I'm also a bit vain when it comes to makeup.

If my makeup doesn't look good, I don't feel good
and then it's just a bad day. ha.

What are your favorite brushes??
Let me know, I love hearing from you!!
Best, Marie
