A Day of Remembrance, September 11th

September 11th will always be a somber day for me.
I can recall the day in great detail as if it was yesterday; where I was,
what I was feeling, etc.  I wasn't sure what type of post to do for
today because even though it was 16 years ago, all the fear,
all the sadness, all the anger all comes rushing back
as if it were in fact yesterday. It would be a disservice to
not address what today is. For some today, is just another
Monday but to me, it is not.

I was in NYC the day before and we were going to stay an extra
day to visit the Towers because a bunch of us have never been,
only seeing them from a distance. As luck would have it, our plans didn't work
out and we came back that evening. Just the thought of what if, gives
me the chills. It's something that I cannot forget. So many questions,
so many what if's swirl through my mind.

I ask you to please take a moment out of your day and say a
prayer for all those who lives were lost and for their families left behind.
#NeverForget

I also must ask that you show a little kindness to someone today (and every day)
Maybe smile at the person sitting next to you on the train, or hold the door
open for someone. Just one small act of kindness can
change someone's whole day.

Be Kind,
Marie

  1. It boggles my mind that 16 years have passed, but we all remember where we were, what we were doing and who was with us on the moment we found out about the towers. We've had so much change for the good and bad since that day, but we will certainly never forget!

  4. Wow, how lucky that plans changed. That really does give you the chills thinking about it. It's crazy to think it's been 16 years already. Remembering all of those who lost their lives that day.

  5. I can remember exactly where I was when I heard what happened on 9/11 as well, and it's so crazy to me to think that some high school students now weren't even born when 9/11 happened. I'm so thankful that your plans ended up changing, I can't even imagine!

  6. Wow, that's amazing that you were supposed to be at the towers on 9/11. Everything happens for a reason. I still remember that day vividly too. I can't believe it's been 16 years.

  7. It is insane to me that it was 16 years ago, because I remember it like it was yesterday!!! I was a freshmen in college and had just left my first class of the day and came back to my dorm to see my roommate crying in front of the TV and it took a few minutes for my confusion to fade and realize what was going on. It is crazy that you were going to be there that day! The what ifs are the things that can drive you crazy.

  8. Wow, that's intense. It's a moment none of us will forget and that one day our children will ask us about. I was 17 and in my second week of my senior year of high school. I live 80 miles from NYC.
