Pearl Jam - Smile - Boston - 5/17/10

Two years ago, JenniSixx got very ill and ended up in the intensive care unit of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).  Due to the the severity of her illness, she had to remain at MGH for the week.  It happened to be the same week she had tickets to go see her favorite band, Pearl Jam (PJ). She didn't care about being sick or being told that she would have to have another brain surgery. All she cared about was that she would have to miss seeing her favorite band.  I have lost count of how many times she has seen them. 

A good friend of hers, Jim, whom she was going to the concert with, decided to try and do something as he knew how upset she was at missing the show. Both are members of the Ten Club, the official fan club of Pearl Jam (PJ).  Jim started a thread in the PJ Forum about his sick friend who was going to miss the show, hoping someone from the band's management would see it and inform the band. 

Someone from management DID see it and informed the band.

I was beyond moved when I saw this. I cannot even type this without tears in my eyes. There are no words for how much this meant to JenniSixx because it made her forget how sick she was and how much love people have for her. 

After all, she is my hero. Seeing as how sick she was, even losing all her hair, she always is smiling. Hence, Smile is her favorite song by Pearl Jam which is the song they dedicated to her. 

If I could personally thank, Eddie Vedder, for this I would.  He made a very sick girl, happy beyond words.  His compassion for his fans is amazing. How many celebrities would take the time out do something like this?? 

Jim, thanks for being such an awesome friend!! What you did for JenniSixx was truly incredible.

I'm sharing this because I think sometimes life gets super busy and we forget about the important things. Sometimes, we all need to (including myself) take a step back and be grateful for what we have in our life. While we may not have everything we want, we have love.  Love is what makes the world go round.  

 A life without love is no life at all.
