The Vineyard

Recently, Jenn and I took
a day trip to the island of Martha's Vineyard.
Known to locals as the Vineyard.

We hadn't been in sometime and the first thing
we did as soon as we got off the ferry was walk around the
Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association, aka the "Gingerbread Houses",
a collection of 350 colorful cottages.

We hadn't visited them since 2012.  So, a visit was required.

This is my favorite house!!

Side note-I didn't want to get up too close and personal to them
as I did not want to disturb the residents/guest who live there.
Most of them were having breakfast on their porches
and I didn't want to be that tourist. Kwim??

Seriously, how cute are they??
You can even rent one if you would like.

As usual, these were the only pictures I
took on the Vineyard. As it was the height of the summer season,
the island was quite packed. In fact, we only stayed a few hours. It was
a bit too crowded for us.  It was quite amusing to see traffic on the island as
well as the lines for the public buses (and bathrooms!!).

The Vineyard is best in the shoulder/off season, as things
are still opened: you can enjoy the beauty and peace of the island.
It's a great place to visit for a few days or just the day.

When planning a trip to the Vineyard, visit MVOL
It is one of the best sites for information about the island.

So tell me do you prefer to visit
places during the high season or shoulder/off season??

Let me know, I love hearing from you!!
Best, Marie

  1. I've never been before! Those houses are so cute! They're like doll houses! I loved going up to the North Shore in the fall when I was living in Minnesota but early or later in the season was best because EVERYONE & their mother goes up there to see the leaves changing colors in the fall.

  6. Such gorgeous pictures! I'm so sad that all the years of going to the Cape in the summer, I never took the ferry out to the vineyard. Definitely a must do next time I'm up there, and yes to the shoulder season! <3
